The fiber optic Air-Gap Variable Attenuator has a ceramic alignment sleeve that provides a low insertion loss of .15dB. The unit provides a variable attenuation range 0dB to 20dB, depending on the light source, and can be used for both multimode and singlemode applications. The Included tool provides you with the ability to increase the attenuation level to desired dB. Depending on the model chosen, the Air-Gap Variable Attenuator can receive ST or FC connectors. You can use this attenuator to a replace a mating sleeve at the patchpanel, where variable attenuation levels can be introduced to the system. When choosing one style of attenuator over another, consider attenuation range, wavelength range, resolution and any polarization dependent loss (PDL) requirements.
